The version of the app you are currently using will stop working soon and no new daily editions will be available.
But don’t worry - there’s a new version that will take its place.
Why are we updating the app?
The platform that powers the current version of The Independent Daily Edition app is no longer supported. That means that any bugs you may experience in the future can’t be fixed. The platform that hosts the new version of the app will be fully supported to ensure it stays compliant with any new operating system upgrades.
What’s different in the new version of the app?
The new app features subtle improvements to the navigation to provide you with the best possible reading experience. There are also bug fixes to make it run smoother.
How do I install the new version of the app?
If your phone or tablet device automatically updates apps to their latest version, then you don’t need to do anything. Your phone or tablet will simply replace your existing app with the new version.
If, however, you don’t have automatic app updates enabled on your device, then you will need to follow the steps below.
Please note: Your device will need to be running on operating systems 15 and above for Apple iOS and 8 and above for Google Android to install the latest version of the app. Details about your current operating system and how to update it can be found in your device settings.

What if I can’t update my operating system due to the age of my device?
It’s standard practice for Apple iOS and Google Android devices to stop receiving operating system updates over time. This is primarily due to hardware limitations on older models, software development costs and security concerns. Without the latest operating system on your device, all apps, including ours, will eventually stop working.
Upgrading your device to a newer model is the only solution.
